Nell Gywnn returns to Plan-B in Elaine Jarvik’s BASED ON A TRUE STORY after appearing in MARRY CHRISTMAS, also by Elaine Jarvik, last season.
Working on any world premiere is exciting, but Elaine Jarvik’s BASED ON A TRUE STORY is special because the world is so completely new and entirely up to this team to create. I love the world Elaine has written and we are all interested in giving these people full lives in the hour and twenty minute world of the time traveling near future. In this play, like life on the Past-Future highway, there are wormholes everywhere, and one of the tricky parts of working on this project is choosing which ones to dive into.
Rehearsal has been an exciting and sometimes exhausting journey through the world of the play, and I think we have found our balance. The show is a heartfelt and delightful ride and I’m anticipating that taking the audience with us each night is going to be lots of fun. I can’t wait to see what happens in this last week of rehearsal!
In keeping with the vibe of the play and today’s holiday, Nell created a Valentine from her character, Meghan, to her husband (Megan’s not Nell’s).
Elaine Jarvik’s BASED ON A TRUE STORY receives its world premiere February 25-March 6 featuring Colleen Baum, Jason Bowcutt, Mark Fossen & Nell Gwynn, directed by Cheryl Cluff. The original run sold out before rehearsal began – limited tickets are available for the added performances on Wednesday, March 2 at 8pm and Sunday, March 6 at 5:30pm.
